Java Shrine are a 5 piece folk-rock outfit from Warrenpoint in Northern Ireland.
Since they first formed back in 1996 the band have played all over Ireland, UK, America, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Finland. Their sound is signified by their 4 & 5 part harmonies and brass hooks
Some of the bands highlights include:
- Being invited by John O Neill from ‘The Undertones’ to record a single & music video
- Being support act for the hugely successful Irish band ‘Aslan’
- Inviting the legendary ‘Tommy Emmanuel’ on stage to play at a Java Shrine gig at the Menagerie in Belfast
- Playing 23 consecutive gigs during their Scandinavian tour in 2006
Since 2007 the members have gone their own ways but they still join up occasionally to reignite that spark which they had.
Java Shrine recently performed in Mainz (Germany) in September 2011. The band played to packed out audiences of fans who sang along with every word!
